explanation writing

Hello readers today in science we have been doing an explanation writing we did this because it was an assessment here is the writing it is about how the polynesian and the astronauts navigation are the same.

Have you ever wondered what space navigate and Polynesian navigate have in common? The Polynesian travels in wakas and canoes. This is a type of the boat that they travel in when they go into the ocean. They use it to get to places in the ocean. They use them to fish and to get other islands.

The Polynesians use the North star to find the North which is the brightest star in the sky. When they can’t find the north star they use the south cross which is a cross in the sky. At the end of the cross is where the south is. Then they are able to find the North star.

Like the Polynesians, astronauts use the stars. They use them to navigate were they are so they know where to go. The astronaut uses the spaceship to travel around space like how Polynesians use their waka to travel around the ocean. The astronauts use the wind of the sun so they know what direction to go because there is no up and down in space.

The Polynesian use the clouds to find the island. How this works is that technology clouds are higher on the island than the sea. They use the birds to find the islands. Some types of birds only travel a couple of miles from their home so they flow the birds to the island.

In conclusion, the Polynesians use the stars like the astronauts. The Polynesians travel in waka when the astronauts travel in a spaceship they both use different ways t to travel around like the Polynesian use their hand and the astronauts use technology.

Mercury why these only little bit of atmosphere

Hello readers today in science we are learning about mercury and why it has only a little bit of atmosphere.

The reason why there is no atmosphere on mercury because it is to close to the sun so it burns the atmosphere and it is also too small to have an atmosphere. Mercury is 57.707 million km away from the sun when Earth is 157.21 million km away from the sun.

Mercury mass is 3.285 x 10^23 kg when earth mass is 5.972 x 10^24 kg. Without an atmosphere to retain the heat at night and mercury is nearly the same size as our moon.

Mercury not having an Atmosphere affects the temperature because no atmosphere does not trap al the hot air in so that is why it is always cold.

First world war memerials

Hello readers today in reading we have been learning about war memorials. We have to answer questions about the reason way they were built and features about it the reason why they built them is because so we remember the great men they fight in war and some people died in the war that could not be bring back overseas. the 3 features they put in memorials tombstones  ashers stain glass the people names.

Wananga

Hello readers today in wananga we have been doing scripts. A script is when we right what you think the characters are saying. My script is about an old man playing against himself the game is chest. He is doing this to get a reward, read the script to find out.

Bright lush Green grass blowing in the wind the bright orange leaves in the trees falling in the ground as the old man sat down to have a chess game he waited for his player to come he got the bored ready.

Geri “you aren't going to win this one old pal. I am going to get my teeth back”

Jeff “ if you want your teeth you have to win it”

They started to play a very intes game.

Geri “ hah you can’t win now.

Jeff “got your pawn”

Geri “no”

Jeff “ I have all your pawns”

Geri “I know something that you don’t know”

Jeff “what”

Geri “nothing”

Jeff “hah got you horse”

Hours passed as the chest game got more and more intense.

Geri “what do I do now, my king is the last one left”

Jeff “It is all over for you old man”

Geri “help me”

Jeff “what”

Geri “I am having a heart attack, Help me”

As Jeff ducked under the table Geri switched the bored.

Jeff “go Geri”

Geri “Ok Jeef, check”

Jeff “what”

Geri “I said check”

Jeff “no”

Geri “ now give my teeth back”

As Jeff gave Geri his teeth back he went home in a fuss wondering what went wrong.

Geri was proud of himself that he cheated at winning his first game of chest

Mars rover

Hello readers. Today in science we are learning more about the perseverance rover mission in the perserverions rover mission the name of the rocket is atlas v rocket the v means five on the rocket ship there was a rover and a helicopter.  The name is Ingenuity Mars Helicopter. The Perseverance rover is going to land at Jezero Crater that is on mars they are trying to find embed life form in the rocks. The rover is going to land by a crane that is going to safely put it on the ground.

sphero rover

Hello readers. Today in science we have been controlling robots. why we had to do this is so we know how nasa feels like when they controlling a rover the sphero is a robotic ball that uses wait to get it a round we did this in groups I did it with James and Kaden we had a good time with the robots we use drawing and blocks to control it. He is what the robot look like Sphero SPRK+ Ball Robot App Enabled Arduino, Electronics and ... I liked playing with this robot.

Starryteller

Hello readers. Today in science we have been looking at a articular. it is could starryteller.

What happens in the articular is a woman named Haritina Mogosanu she is a  astrologist, science communicator and president of the Mars Society in New Zealand. she went to a place that was just like mars a they lived in hab they are a cylinder that can hold two people and she explains what she experienced.

haritina found it most difficult working 24/7 because most of her jobs go to nine to five and it is a completely forgotten environment so she had know idea were she was and she felt scared of being an unfamiliar place all the time.

I think it is really important for astronauts to live in these conditions for a period of time so they practice there life skills so they know what to do in a situation if they want to go on mars and they know what it feels like

Mars rover

Hello readers. Today in science we have been researching about the rover. We did this so we know more about what the rover is doing and why we are sending it to the big red plant (Mars). Here is some paragraphs about the rover.

Would you like to know more about the Perseverance rover? A rover is a vehicle that can drive by itself for a long period of time before it runs out of life time then it rest will the solar panels collect the sunlight powering it up so it could drive around on Mars collecting rocks and data about the plant exploring if we could one day live on Mars.

The lunch of the perseverance rover lunch in 2020 30 of July. They are launching the perseverance rover because they are trying to get samples of what Mars is made of. If we could or can’t live on Mars so when earth burns up we could move to Mars years to come.

Perseverance is a name of a rover, how it got named is they put out a competition for naming the rover. A seventh grader from Lake Braddock Secondary school in Burke Virginia won the competition. Alex Mather is the name of the seventh grader that chose the name.

The Mars rover is landing on Mars 18 February 2021. It is going to take a couple of months to get there when the rover gets there. It's going to inflate so the rover bounces so it does not get damaged so the rover can get samples of the red planet we know as Mars.

star consolation

Hello readers. Today in science I have been doing an activity that you have to pick two consolation. The consolation that I is pick was scorpius and Neowise Here is a picture of it.

In the shadow of Taranaki.

Hello readers. Today in reading we have been looking at videos about Parihaka. Parihaka is a village in the mountains. We have to answer some questions.

We saw children in buses traveling up to the mountains of taranaki look at the jail that the British throw the Maori in. The children was sad that there asters got throw in jail. The kids had white feathers in there heir to risible peace not war. It is important to the kids to know what happen to there asters so they don't get treated the way the Parihaka got treated.

The British was trying to take over the land they first tried to give then money but the parihaka thought no a mount of money could worth as much as land. 1840 to the 1870 the government confiscate there land it coursed a disagreement between the Maori and the government.

What the Europeans expect when they were attacking the parihaka was war they came with there guns and there best solders to attack the parihaka. Instead all they got was children skipping and being greeted and given bread to eat they standard there with there white feathers.

The mouse keep walking  to find his nut tree when the trees started to wave the mouse heard a lizard walking  on the ground the lizard ask him if he want to have dinner in his underground hole "no" said the mouse "I am having lunch with the beast" the beast said the lizard" yes the beast"  he has green eyes brown nose that can sniff for miles... to be contended
